Kenneth Richard "Dick" Gibson, 68, of Cambridge, died Thursday (May 15, 2008) at his home. He was born on August 15, 1939 in Summerfield, son of Maxine (Oliver) Gibson Mathers and the late Kenneth A. Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a former employee of NCR and also had worked at the Salt Fork State Park Pro Shop. Mr. Gibson was a 1957 graduate of Summerfield High School. He was a member of the Cambridge Country Club and also a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a passionate golfer. Mr. Gibson was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra J. "Sunny" (Kendall) Gibson, who died on March 16, 2006. They were married on February 12, 1982. He leaves his mother and step-father, Maxine (Oliver) Gibson Mathers and Robert Mathers of Cambridge; a son, Brent (& Paula) Gibson of Dayton; a daughter, Tonya Marlatt of Cambridge; two step-sons, Ned (& Stephanie) Brown of Cambridge and Tim (& Kellie) Brown of Cambridge; ten grandchildren, Brad Marlatt, Ryan Hatmaker, Jacob Gibson, Gabby Gibson, Justin Brown, Travis Brown, Tyler Brown, Brie Brown, Brandon Brown and Samantha Brown; and a great-grandchild, Evan Bradley Marlatt. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Tuesday (May 20, 2008) at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Sperry officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
