Kimberly A. "Kim" Bates, 57, of Cambridge, died Saturday (October 7, 2017) at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 13, 1960 in Cambridge, daughter of Dixie (Stover) and the late Robert Van Dyne Jr.
Mrs. Bates had worked at Cambridge City Schools, where she had been the head cook for many years.
She loved her flowers and knick-knacks.
She enjoyed watching sporting events and traveling.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge of Cambridge.
Mrs. Bates was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cambridge.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Haven Stover and Doreen Stover-Bumgardner; and her paternal grandparents, Mabel and Robert Van Dyne Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Jan Bates, whom she married February 14, 2013; her mother, Dixie Van Dyne of Cambridge; two sons, Tyler Markley of Cambridge and Trevor Markley (& Alyssa Poland) of Cambridge; a stepson, John (& Michelle) Bates of Blacklick; a stepdaughter, Kasey Bates of Zanesville; a brother, Robbie (& Trish) Van Dyne of Cambridge; three sisters, Lisa Mead of Cambridge, Julie Black of Worthington, and Stacy Van Dyne of Cambridge; a grandson, Beckham Markley; and several nieces & nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the First Baptist Church (136 E 8
th
Street, Cambridge) on Wednesday (October 11, 2017) from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a memorial service following at 5:30 p.m.
Evang. Mark Beros will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Guernsey County Cancer Society, 927 E Wheeling Avenue, Suite 205, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
