After a lengthy illness, Kirk Edward Jones, 61, of Freeport passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 25th.
Kirk was born in Cameron, OH on February 23, 1957 to Buena Lottie Talbot Jones and Clyde Charles Jones. He grew up on Headly Ridge in Beallsville, OH and graduated from Beallsville High School.
He was previously employed at Powhatan #4 Coal Mine, Freeport Press and Sugar Creek Heating and Cooling. While an employee at Statewide Heating and Cooling Kirk was diagnosed with a brain tumor and spent the past 12 years courageously fighting it.
Kirk was a long time lover of music and spending time following his favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State. He was especially proud of Big Blue, his Chevy 4x4 truck. Always with a smile on his face, his quick wit and humor brought joy to all who knew him. Affectionately called "Boo Boo" by his family, Kirk lived a simple, but enjoyable life with his wife, children, granddaughter and grandsons.
Kirk leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Vicki Lynn Cameron Jones, who was his loving encourager and faithful caregiver. He also leaves two sons, Derek Jones of the Freeport, OH, Rocky (Lizzie) Jones, grandson Finlay and baby grandson-to-be of White Fish Bay, Wisconsin, granddaughter Sadie Taggart and fiance, Codey Kimble of Lancaster, OH, grandsons, Justin, Dyllan, Creed and Noah Jones of the home.
He also leaves behind brothers, Larry Jones, Ricky (Kathy) Jones, and Randy Jones of Wilson, OH and Doug Jones of North Carolina; two sisters, Sue (Jim) Dearth of Woodsfield, OH and Sandra (Joe) Sheesley of North Carolina. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Barbara) Cameron of Freeport, OH and Victor "Rocky" (Claire) Cameron of Cambridge, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Buena Jones and three brothers-in-law, Thomas "Bing" and surviving spouse Phyllis, John Wayne and surviving spouse Elaine, Nelson Lee Cameron and surviving spouse Jeanette Cameron Krunich.
Visitation will be held Friday (June 29, 2018) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Bob Merritt officiating.
