Lanny Ross Neiswonger, 76, of Quaker City, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his home.
Lanny was born on January 13, 1950, in Barnesville, a son of the late Carlos and Hester (Yoho) Neiswonger.
Lanny was a 1967 graduate of Zane Trace and attended MATC where he obtained his associates degree. Lanny worked for Fishers Contracting, Landmark, Foraker Tractor Supply, and Valley Mining. He was a member of the Quaker City Church of Christ where he was baptized, the Batesville Legion and the Quaker City Fire Department since 1968. Lanny enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, loved Westerns, and spending time with his family. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Vietnam era.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers; Walter and Gerald, a sister; Charlene Bailey, and his dog; Black Girl.
Lanny is survived by his wife; Shirley (Foraker) Neiswonger, whom he married on January 22, 1972, his son; Tim (Maria) Neiswonger of Quaker City, his daughters; Melanie (Jason) Ryan of Quaker city and Korina (Shawn Ryan) Tracy of Quaker City, his brother; Dallas (Lois) Neiswonger of Senecaville, and a brother-in-law; Glenn (carol) Foraker of Cambridge. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren; Tanner Neiswonger, Hunter (Sierra) Ryan, Erika (Kyle) Stephen, Spencer Tracy (Katelynn Martin), Brady Tracy, Kaelyn, Kinsley, and Kaydee Neiswonger and Silas (Cheyenne) Tracy and his great grandchildren; Jacob and Jackson Ryan, Kylee Stephen, Dilyn Tracy, Kelby, Kohen, and Kolter Tracy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 5PM-7PM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Quaker City with additional calling hours on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 11AM until the time of the service at 1PM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Quaker City with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be held at Friends Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Lanny’s name to Ester Cirle, Quaker City Fire Department, or Hospice of Guernsey.
