Larry "Sandy" Evans, 69, of Cambridge, died Friday (January 7, 2011) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born March 25, 1941 in Cambridge, son of the late William L. Evans Sr. and Goldie L. (Anderson) Evans. Mr. Evans was the former club manager of the Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386, retiring after thirty years of service. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and sports of all types. Mr. Evans was a US Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Larry Evans Jr., James "Tiny" Evans, and Brian Evans. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Mitchell) Evans of the home, whom he married October 27, 1979; four daughters, Kimberly (& Randy) Mercer of Cambridge, Melissa (& Mark) Nuremberger of New York, Sherri (& Mark) Felton of Cambridge, and Wednesday (& Paul) Voytko of Cambridge; a step-daughter, Charlotte Watson of Cambridge; two brothers, Williams L. Evans Jr. of Cambridge and Chris Evans of Cambridge; a sister, Carolyn Lantz of Cambridge; thirteen grandchildren, Kali, Sarah, Maggie, Molly, Aryssa, Austin, Evan, Hayden, Amanda, Larry Evans III, Bethany, James, and Danny; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday (January 10, 2011) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Randy Mercer officiating. Eagles services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
