Larry Robert Harper

Larry Robert Harper, 74, of Cambridge, died Tuesday February 16, 2016 at Beckett House after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 15, 1941 in Dresden, son of the late Lee Roy Harper and Doris M. (Swope) Harper. Mr. Harper was the owner of Harper Plumbing of Dresden. He was a very active member of the Faith United Methodist Church, participating in the choir, prison ministry meeting, and mission trips. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at Bob Evans and McDonalds. He loved playing Santa. He also loved to tell jokes and one liners. Mr. Harper was a member and past master of Frazeysburg Masonic Lodge #490 and a member of Cambridge Masonic Lodge # 66 Free & Accepted Masons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; Larry Robert Harper Jr., and a sister; Carol Haislett. He is survived by his wife; Shirley Louise (Berg) Harper, whom he married December 31, 1990, a son; Michael Bradley (Angie) Harper of Conesville, two Stepsons; James Bradley (Jackie) Stewart of Claysville and Paul Daniel (Mindy) Stewart of Cambridge, a stepdaughter; Brenda Kay (Joe) Celuch of Frazeysburg, a brother; Russell (Janice) Harper of McConnellsville, eight grandchildren, eleven step -grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday February 19, 2016 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge and Saturday February 20, 2016 from 1 PM until time of service at 2 PM with Rev. Everett Stoddard and Pastor Robert Mesnard officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville. Masonic Services at the funeral home on Friday at 8 PM.
