Larry A. Tilton

Larry A. Tilton, 66, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (May 20, 2008) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born on July 10, 1941 in Pleasant City, son of the late Austin A. Tilton and Lenamae (Spurrier) Tilton. Mr. Tilton was a coal miner for twenty-five years, having worked at Consul Oak Park Mine # 7 for twenty of those years. He later retired in June of 2007 from Detroit Diesel, where he had been a machine operator. Mr. Tilton enjoyed going to flea markets, playing Bingo and traveling in his motor home. He was a devoted pet owner to his dog, Cookie. Mr. Tilton was a 1959 graduate of Sarahsville High School. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara Fry, Charlotte Ann Tilton and Judith Tedrick. He leaves his wife, Audrey Eileen (Slay) Tilton of the home, whom he married on September 3, 1960; two sons, Buck (& Pamela) Tilton of Cambridge and Terry Tilton of Cambridge; a daughter, Debbie Williams of Cambridge; three brothers, William Tilton of Cambridge, Jack (& Joy) Tilton of Cambridge and Rick Tilton of Florida; five sisters, Joyce Frame of Byesville, Sandy (& Clem) Slay of Byesville, Connie (& Junior) Horn of Louisa KY, Alberta (& Tim) McCullough of Cambridge and Shirley Tilton of Cambridge; four grandchildren, Brandi Williams of Cambridge, Josh Williams of Zanesville; Nicole (& Kevin) Hardy of Cambridge and Bradley Tilton of Cambridge; a great-grandchild, Katie Alloway; special friends, George and Emma Batchik of New Concord; and numerous nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Friday (May 23, 2008) at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
