Laura C Gattrell

Laura C. Gattrell, 97, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (September 18, 2012) at the Red Carpet Health Care Center, Cambridge. She was born April 13, 1915 in Senecaville, daughter of the late Uranus Corwin and Edith Esther (Finley) Corwin. Mrs. Gattrell worked for the former Hamilton Beach Company and later worked at RCA for eleven years. She was a member of the Lore City United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Golden Sixties, the Helping Hands of Senecaville, and the Guernsey County Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Gattrell, who died October 17, 1971. They were married September 9, 1936. Also deceased are three sisters, Opal Ulrich, Rachel Davis, and Esther Ladick; a brother, Russell Corwin; and a great-granddaughter, Hannah. She is survived by a son, William R. (Bonnie) Gattrell of Cambridge; a daughter, June (Kenneth) Shooter of Centerville; six grandchildren, Jeff Gattrell, Jerry (Rachel) Gattrell, Julie (Robert) Lane, Chris (Ted) Wagner, Greg (Lauren) Shooter, and Gary (Natalie) Shooter; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Gattrell, Kyle Gattrell, Blake Lane, Brooke Lane, Olivia Shooter, and Madison Shooter; and two great-great-grandchildren, Koltn and Kollin Harriman. Family and friends may call on Saturday (September 22, 2012) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jamie Hitchcock officiating. Burial will be at Old Washington Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Laura's name may be made to one of the following organizations: 1) House of Hope, 916 Foster Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Lore City United Methodist Church.
