LaVerne Emma Klies, 91, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (September 11, 2013) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. She was born March 11, 1922 in Cleveland, daughter of the late William C. Reece and Ada Belle (Kilcriest) Reece. She was the last member of her family. Mrs. Klies was a homemaker. During WWII, she worked in a Cleveland defense plant as a supervisor. She was a graduate of high school and beauty school in Cleveland. She was Methodist by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Davis Klies Jr., who died June 5, 2006. They were married March 2, 1946. Also deceased are three brothers, William Arthur, Richard Benjamin, and James Robert; and five sisters, Helen Isabelle Reece, Ada Marian Reece, Lucille Grace Combs, Myrtle Alice Cook, and Wilma Hazel Greenaway. She is survived by two sons, Robert (& Jean) Klies of Cambridge and Ronald Klies of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Corina Klies, Darren Klies, and Bobbi Fogle; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Klies, Brett Mehaffey, Monty Huff, Dustyn Klies, Austin Couch, Levi Klies, Riley Fogle, and Bronwyn Crawford; and two great-great-grandchildren, Brodie Stickley and Bentley Neff. Family and friends may call on Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and also on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (September 14, 2013) at 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
