Lawrence "Larry" J. Michelli

Lawrence "Larry" J. Michelli, 77, of Cambridge, died Friday (August 27, 2021) at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 17, 1943 in Flushing, OH, son of the late Lawrence and Ruth (Ross) Michelli.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Valykeo.

Larry graduated from St. Benedict High School in 1961.

Larry was a cook at the Dutch Pantry and Bob Evans restaurants for many years. He started at Dutch Pantry in 1968 and worked there until they closed in 1988. He continued at Bob Evans when they opened at the former Dutch Pantry site later that same year. He was a hard worker who rarely missed a day of work. He always had a smile, and would make an effort to say goodbye to all of his coworkers at the end of every shift. After 53 years, it's safe to say that the corner of Georgetown and Southgate just won't be the same without him.

He enjoyed the simpler things in life, like grocery shopping, gardening, watching old TV shows and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy (Wright) Michelli, of the home, whom he married December 12, 1987; a daughter, Mary (Levi) Boyd of Cambridge; a brother, Carl (Ellouise) Michelli of Yadkinville NC; a grandson, Noah Boyd of Cambridge; two nieces, Carla (Mitchell) Wolford and Cheryl Michelli of Mocksville NC; and a nephew; Mike Michelli of Byesville.

Visitation will be held Tuesday (August 31, 2021) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday (September 1, 2021) at 12:00 pm at St. Benedict Catholic Church-Christ Our Light Parish, Cambridge, with Father Jeremiah Hahn officiating

Burial will follow at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
