Leanna Black, 87, of Quaker City, died Friday (Feb. 19, 2016) at her home. She was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Summerfield, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ross Smith and Flo McVicker-Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, George, Don, Ross Jr., Harold, Walter and Calvin Smith. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Norman Black of the home, whom she married on March 8th, 1956; a son, Bill (and Jill) Black, of Cumberland; two grandsons, Jess (and Susan) Black of Columbus, Dr. Doug Black of Cambridge and a granddaughter Kelly, of Cambridge; three great-grandchildren, Kyler, Coen, and Conner, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Black was a 1946 graduate of Summerfield High School and a graduate of the Zanesville Beauty College. She was a nursing home aide for 30 years, beginning at St. Francis Hospital and ending her career at Red Carpet Nursing Home in Cambridge. She attended Salt Fork Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Tuesday (February 23, 2016) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Floyd Atkinson officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
