Lela M. Bishard

Lela M. (Valentine) Bishard, 79, of Abbottstown PA, died Monday (October 8, 2007) at her home. She was the wife of the late James E. Bishard, who died November 9, 1985. She was born on October 19, 1927 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Arthur P. and Bessie G. (Danford) Valentine. Mrs. Bishard was a member of First Baptist Church, Hanover, and a twenty-four year volunteer with the PAL program associated with the Hanover Council of Churches. She leaves six sons, James R. Bishard and Bradford L. Bishard of York PA, Brian K. Bishard and Scott M. Bishard of Abbottstown PA, Gary L. Stanley and William D. Stanley of Cambridge; three daughters, Carol R. Francis of Dublin, Muriel A. Schlosser of Manchester NH and Lori A. Heltzel of Spring Grove PA; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Choma of Cambridge; and a brother, Arthur Valentine of Port Orange FL. Family and friends may call on Friday (October 12, 2007) from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 12 Noon. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
