Lenna Mae Clauss, 92, of Westerville and formerly of North Olmsted, passed away Friday (November 8, 2013) at the Columbus Colony Elderly Care Nursing Home. She was born April 17, 1921 in Batesville, daughter of the late Alva and Mary (Yost) Carpenter. Lenna graduated from the Ohio School for the Deaf in 1942. After graduation, she worked at Goodyear of Akron. She later worked at Kirkwood Industries of Cleveland for thirty-three years. She married Alfred Ernest Clauss on August 7, 1943. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Alfred, who died October 29, 2013; three sisters, Zelma Huebner, Olive Maurer, and Mary Lois Suhr; and a brother, Rodney Carpenter. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley (& Robert) Srail of Sagamore Hills; five brothers, Robert (& Elaine) Carpenter of West Lafayette, Herbert (& Esther) Carpenter of Quaker City, Frank (& Essie) Carpenter of Caldwell, Max (& Sharon) Carpenter of Senecaville, and Connie (& Marsha) Carpenter of Westerville; two sisters, Dorothy (& Bob) Morris of Summerfield and Norma (& McKinley) Morris of Summerfield; two granddaughters, Kim (& Brian) Schellhase of Delaware and Tracy (& Kevin) Brooks of Toledo; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. Family and friends may call on Monday (November 11, 2013) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ohio School for the Deaf, 500 Morse Road, Columbus OH 43214.
