Lenora Ann Hill

May 5, 1931 — March 28, 2015

Lenora Ann Hill, 83, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Saturday (March 28, 2015) in Charleston SC while in hospice care. She was born May 5, 1931 in Weston WV, daughter of the late Carsie D. Allen and Audra Mae (Muster) Allen. Mrs. Hill was a 1949 graduate of Cambridge High School. She retired from March Electric in 1998 after working there for thirty years. Before leaving Ohio in 2007 to be with family in South Carolina, she had been a homemaker who loved her daily chores, especially ironing, cleaning, and baking chocolate cookies for her favorites. Lenora, known as "Nanny" by family and friends, was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Cambridge. She loved spending time with family and friends, shopping, going to the movies, and playing bingo. She enjoyed attending sporting events - mainly basketball, baseball, volleyball, and bowling - to see her son, grandchildren, and nephew in action. She will join her husband, Charles R. "Sauce" Hill Sr., in their heavenly home. He departed this life December 11, 2007. Prior to his departure, they had been married nearly sixty years. Nanny is survived by her two sons, Russ (& Nancy) Hill of Senecaville and Tim (& Nana) Hill of North Charleston SC; two sisters, Barbara Hayes and Mary (& Dave) Markley of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Kellie (& Jeff) Loy of Pleasant City, Wendy (& Brad) Prince of Fort Mill SC, Clint Hill (& Jessica Hamilton) of Zanesville; Cory Hill (& Krissy Moss) of Senecaville, Jennifer Hill of North Charleston SC, and Scott Hill of North Charleston SC; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Loy, Hayden Loy, Briley Prince, Brinay Prince, Wayde Prince, Bode Hill, and Gunner Hill; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Delno Watkins. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Funeral services will be held Thursday (April 2, 2015) at 11 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church, Cambridge, with Pastor Sturman Moore officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington DC 20090-6011.
