Leonard P. Johnson, 85, of Kimbolton, died Thursday (October 4, 2007) at the Autumn Health Care Center of Cambridge. He was born on January 13, 1922, son of the late Robert & Ella Durben Johnson. Mr. Johnson was an active member of his community and served as Fire Chief of Kimbolton Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as Waterboard Director for the village for over 20 years. He helped to form and coach a baseball team for the youth of Kimbolton. He was always available to anyone who called for his help. Mr. Johnson attended school at Partridge Trap and was very interested in its restoration. He was a water-witcher, an avid deer & coon hunter and enjoyed mushroom & ginseng hunting. Mr. Johnson retired from the House of Metals, where he had been a press operator. He was also a former coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Hermann) Johnson, who died on August 20, 1997. They were married on May 18, 1940. Also deceased are an infant daughter; a son, Larry "Joe" Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Dixon Johnson; four brothers, Harry Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Frank Johnson and Fred Johnson; and three sisters, Addie Johnson, Amanda Larrison and Anna Kennedy. He leaves a son, Daniel Johnson of Kimbolton; a sister, Gertrude Masci of Wintersville; two grandsons, Monte (& Alisha) Johnson of Kimbolton and Larry "Joey" (& Julie) Johnson of Cambridge; two granddaughters, Penny (& Robin) Riggs of Caldwell and Krystal (& Tim) Wheeler of Kimbolton; thirteen great-grandchildren, Eric Beam, Kyle Beam, Morgan Riggs, Tyler Dowling, Larry "Joey" Johnson, Eric Johnson, Laura Johnson, Ivy Johnson, Aryka Wheeler, Chance Wheeler, Hunter Wheeler, Ciara Wheeler and Colt Wheeler; and many special nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and also on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (October 9, 2007) at 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Pastor Sturman Moore officiating. Burial will be at Kimbolton Cemetery.
