Leonard Lashley Jr., 94, of Sarahsville, passed away on February 19, 2023, in Zanesville, surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 23, 1928, in Kennonsburg, a son to the late Leonard and Freda (Hague) Lashley.
Leonard was well rounded and developed a good work ethic assisting his father-in-law on a farm as he and Lena began their journey. He would later go on to operate Lashley Hardware as well as TV sales and repairs in Batesville, Ohio, during the 50's and 60's, and finally retired from the heavy/highway construction industry in 1996. Leonard continued his busy life by serving his family and doing his favorite hobby, raising a garden. He was a faithful member of The Stop Nine Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Lena (Warner) Lashley, whom he married on September 25, 1945, and passed away on August 2, 2005, and his son, Daniel Lashley, who passed away on December 16, 2010. Leonard was the remaining child of Leonard and Freda, as his five sisters and two brothers also preceded him in passing.
Leonard is survived by his daughters, Sue (Chuck) Snode, and Sherry (Dug) Adams, his son, Dale (Barb) Lashley, and a sister-in-law, Delores Lashley. Also left to cherish his memory are his ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and well thought of friends.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 4-8PM, at The Stop Nine Church of Christ in Byesville, with a funeral service on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM at The Stop Nine Church of Christ with Evan. Mark Beros and Evan. Woody Biggs officiating. A graveside burial will follow at 2:00PM at Friends Cemetery in Quaker City.
Donations can be made in Jr's name to Stop Nine Church of Christ Funeral Committee. Arrangements are being taken care of by Thorn Black Funeral Home.
