Leonard R. Schafer, 56, of Senecaville, died Monday (March 19, 2007) at the Cleveland VA Medical Center - Wade Park Campus, Cleveland. He was born May 20, 1950 in Cleveland, son of the late Ralph A. Schafer and Elizabeth "Betty" J. (Hubbard) Guentzler. Mr. Schafer was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was also a retired Teamster. He was a life member of Cambridge V.F.W. Post 2901 and a member of Parma D.A.V. Mr. Schafer was a devoted husband and best friend, loving father, and friend & confidant to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and two sisters, Donna J. Kisner and Joanne M. Thomas. He leaves his wife, Marjorie G. Schafer of the home, whom he married on August 23, 1993; two sons, Leonard B. Schafer of North Canton and Phillip D. Schafer of Brunswick; two daughters, Dawn M. Skalba of Senecaville and Angela L. (& Dave) Everett of Broadview Heights; a brother, Roy G. (& Donna) Schafer of Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Ethan J. Schafer, Laura L. Everett, Megan T. Everett and Rachel A. Everett; and several special relatives & friends. Family and friends may call on Saturday (March 31, 2007) from 3 to 5 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a memorial service will begin at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Pastor Randy Mercer will be officiating. Entombment will take place at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
