Leroy E. Moose

Leroy E. Moose, 77, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (July 3, 2013) at his home surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with lymphoma cancer. He was born January 22, 1936 in Cambridge, son of the late Fred Moose and Hazel Maude (McConkey) Moose. Mr. Moose retired from Capital Lanes and Kingpin Lanes after working at both facilities for a combination of fifty-three years, where he never missed a single day of work. He was also an avid bowler who held many records that to this day have never been broken. He was a property landlord for numerous tenants for many years. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 386 and enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the club. Mr. Moose was a 1954 graduate of Cambridge High School and a graduate of AMF Mechanic School. He was a certified AMF mechanic who could fix anything mechanical. He loved his 1931 Ford Model A Coupe. He was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed yard working, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially with his great-granddaughter, Kamdon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred "Bud" Moose Jr., Roger Moose, and Russell Moose; two sisters, Bertha Link and Pauline Ruby; and two brothers-in-law, Dallie Tolbert and Marion Abel. He is survived by his wife, Peggy A. (Riley) Moose of the home, whom he married May 10, 1959; a son, Rickie L. Moose of Lewis Center; a daughter, Karla J. Moose (& Jeff Mink) of Plain City; two sisters, Nora Tolbert of New Philadelphia and Doris June Abel of Cambridge; five grandchildren, Brittiney Johnson (& Bob Ramey) of Westerville, Savannah Moose (& Shane Gray) of San Francisco CA; Lindsey Moose of Dublin, Logan Throckmorton (& Malibu Ramey) of Delaware, and Cory Moose of Byesville; a great-granddaughter, Kamdon Ramey; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawanda Moose of Columbus, Ed Link of New Philadelphia, Linda Volz of Cambridge, Dorothy Humbard of Fremont, Jim & Lil McDonald of Cambridge, Brody & Roberta Riley of Auburn CA, Dixie & Jim Heddleson of Cambridge, Dale & Emilie Riley of Cambridge, and Steve & Donna Riley of Cambridge; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday (July 9, 2013) at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
