Leslie L. Morgan, 82, a life-long resident of Quaker City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Friday (January 28, 2011) at his home. He was born April 14, 1928, in Quaker City, son of the late Hazel L. Morgan. Les retired after 38 years as a rural mail carrier. He had served in the United States Navy as an avionics repair technician during World War II. Les had served the community of Quaker City throughout his life as mayor, village councilman, volunteer firefighter, Friends Cemetery trustee and grant writer. He had also performed volunteer duties at Southeastern Med in Cambridge. Les was a member of the First Christian Church and was a devoted family man and an avid fisherman. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Norma Jean (Mason) Morgan; a son, Leslie L. (Connie) Morgan Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Christine (Lawrence) Graham of Barnesville; five grandchildren, Todd (Melissa) Morgan, Cliff (Jaime) Graham, Tiffany (John) Borden, Kristall (Michael) Day and Tristan Morgan. Leslie also leaves behind seven wonderful great-grandchildren, C.J. Graham, Lethan Graham, Danielle Borden, Ryan Borden, Austin Morgan, Bryson Morgan and Sadie Day. He will be sadly missed by the family. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday (January 30, 2011) at the Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
