Lewis Edward "Ed" Tipton II, 58, of Cambridge, died Thursday (December 22, 2016) at his home. He was born July 25, 1958 in Cambridge, son of Ruth Ann (Bowman) Tipton Rine and the late Lewis Edward Tipton I. Mr. Tipton was most recently employed with the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he had worked as a highway technician. Earlier in his career he had also worked at Amerigas, FedEx, TMC, and was employed for twenty-eight years with Ohio Bridge. He was a member of the United Methodist Faith. Mr. Tipton was a former trustee of the Friends Cemetery of Quaker City. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 386 and the Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the Cambridge Singers. He attended Muskingum Technical College. Mr. Tipton was a certified EMT and served with the Quaker City Fire Department for many years. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and attending their various sporting events. Other hobbies he enjoyed included riding his Harley, kayaking, cooking and grilling, and vacationing. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cindy D'Antonio. He leaves his loving wife, Kristina (Hulbert) Tipton; his mother, Ruth Ann Tipton Rine of Newcomerstown; his children, Lacey (Rick) Betts of Quaker City, Lewis Edward "Ed" Tipton III (Ashley Haynes) of Quaker City [as well as the mother of Lewis III and Lacey: Rita Mellott of Quaker City], Brad (Jill) Carpenter of Barnesville, Eric Carpenter (Stephanie Lynn) of Panama City FL, and Cody Carpenter of Barnesville; a sister, Julie Andry of Naples FL; six grandchildren, Noah, Faith, and Gracey Betts, Gavin Edward Tipton, Sophie and Rex Carpenter; and several nieces. Visitation will be held Wednesday (December 28, 2016) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Thursday (December 29, 2016) at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Senecaville Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Guernsey County Cancer Society, 927 E Wheeling Ave, Suite 205, Cambridge OH 43725.
