Lewis Wayble, 90, of Freeport, died Tuesday (January 3, 2012) at the Autumn Healthcare Center, Cambridge. He was born July 3, 1921 in Antrim, son of the late John Allen Wayble and Amanda (Decker) Wayble. Mr. Wayble retired from the Guernsey County Highway Department, where he had been a foreman. He had also worked as a coal miner with Nucci Brothers prior to that. He was a farmer for many years, too. Mr. Wayble was a member of the Londonderry United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He also served as president of the Antrim Presbyterian Cemetery Association. He was a former Londonderry Township Trustee. Mr. Wayble was a US Army veteran, having served during WWII in the European Theater. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Iva (Mallarnee) Wayble of the home, whom he married March 28, 1946; two sons, Raymond (& Fawn) Wayble of Freeport and Dale (& Carleen) Wayble of Barnesville; two daughters, Bonnie (& Donald) Beckett of Cambridge and Rebecca (& James) Tuttle of Reynoldsburg; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Saturday (January 7, 2012) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Al Hoder officiating. Burial will be at Antrim Presbyterian Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Lewis's name to the Antrim Presbyterian Cemetery Association, c/o 8997 Northgate Drive, Cambridge OH 43725.
