Louann "Annie" Barton of St. Clairsville passed away unexpectedly on Monday Nov. 9th, 2015 at the age of 45. She was born on April 2nd, 1970 to Paul and Joyce (French) Cox in Dennison, Ohio. She was a 1988 graduate of Buckeye Trail High School, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen, and excelled in anything she put her mind to. Annie belonged to the Local Society for Human Resources Management Chapter. She received her Human Resources Certification with the Educational Institute in 1999. She has been with Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital Family since 2005. Annie married Okie Barton Jr. on May 21st, 2008. Her step-son Okie Barton III (Lil' Okie) was the light of her life. Her proudest moment was seeing him graduate from high school earlier this year. She cried like any mother would, seeing her son in his cap and gown. She loved NASCAR and was Jeff Gordon's #1 fan. Annie also dearly loved her dog Kalli Bear, who was with her every day until the end. Annie loved her family immensely. She was kindhearted to everyone she met, and always had a beautiful smile on her face and her laugh was a joy to hear. She was easy to talk to and she always gave her heartfelt support to anyone who needed her. Annie loved unconditionally and lived life to the fullest. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family, friends and colleagues. She made a difference in the lives of many. Those who knew her will never be the same. Annie is preceded in death by her husband, Okie Barton Jr.; her beloved father, Paul Silas Cox; and an uncle, Charles "Buddy" Cox. She is survived by her stepson, Okie Barton III; her loving mother, Joyce Cox; sisters, Brenda (Robert) Owens, Tamara (Steve) Kasper, and Tracie Cox (Timothy Legg); and her nieces and nephews, Joseph (Rachelle) Leonard, Olivia Leonard (Aaron Hook), Cassie (Marland) Whaley, Edward and James Kasper, Zack Hickman, "Katie Bug" Cox, and Harley Butcher. Everyone who remembers Annie is asked to celebrate her life in their own way. Raising a glass of their favorite drink in her memory would be quite appropriate. Visitation will held Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Thursday (November 19, 2015) at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery, Newcomerstown. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Friends of Peterson Hospital, 20 Homestead Avenue, Wheeling WV 26003.
