Louis J. Coury, 87, of Cambridge, died Sunday (December 19, 2010) at Southeastern OH Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born January 26, 1923 in Buckeyeville (Dogtown), son of the late Barkett Coury and Sadie (Awoad) Coury. Mr. Coury was an electronic technician for RCA from 1953-1964 and at NCR from 1966-1988. He was a graduate of Wheeling High School. He was a member of the HAM radio club, Indian Guides, and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Coury was a member of Christ Our Light Parish, Cambridge, where he also served on the St. Benedict school board and was an Eucharistic minister. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran, having served from 1941-1945 during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Ammar) Coury, who died May 3, 1985. They were married October 25, 1954. Also deceased is a son, John Louis Coury who died in 1959; and a brother, Charles Coury. He is survived by three sons, Nick (& Marlene) Coury of Nashville TN, Tony (& Donna) Coury of Lewis Center, and Bob (& Mary) Coury of Cambridge; a daughter, Tina (& Jerold) Lucas of New Concord; two sisters, Lucy Gibbons of Wheeling WV and Eva Moffett of Bradenton FL; nine grandchildren, Christin (& Scott) Yuppa, Aaron Coury, Sara (& Hugo) Campos, Sadie Lucas, Josh Coury, Candace Jarvis, Maggie Neuhart, Ellie Coury, and Josie Coury; and a great-grandchild, Jade Yuppa. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with a wake service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday (December 23, 2010) at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. (www.stjude.org)
