Louis J. Kapolka

Louis J. Kapolka, 87, of Senecaville, died Friday (May 21, 2021) at Southeastern Med.

He was born April 26, 1934 in Maple Heights, son of the late Lewis Kapolka and Sophia (Malec) Kapolka.

A 1952 graduate of Maple Heights High School, Mr. Kapolka was an insurance adjuster for G.A.B. North America for many years.

Since birth, he was Catholic by faith.

He was a volunteer with the Salvation Army and the Pleasant City Food Pantry.

Mr. Kapolka was a US Army veteran.

Louis graduated from Kent State University in 1956 with a BS and a BA, and during his time there, he served as president of his fraternity.

He also owned and operated his own night club in Akron called 'The Z Lounge', where many musicians performed, but most notably, this is where Louis provided David Allen Coe with his first break in music.

He was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors, planting flowers and fishing in his pond.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Stetzey, and a brother-in-law, William 'Red' Neptune.

He is survived by his wife, Robin (Glover) Kapolka, whom he married December 12, 1998; four daughters, Sophia Kapolka of the home, Carole (Cody) Fehrman of Greenville SC, Amanda (Robert) Voytko of Winston-Salem NC, and Michelle Kapolka (Andy) English of Shaker Heights; a sister, Lillian Neptune of Maple Heights; four grandchildren, Ryker, Rhen, Abbey, and Drew; and several nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday (May 24, 2021) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home. Family and friends are all welcome, but due to COVID-19, FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED. Please take all precautions to ensure your own safety and everyone else's should you decide to attend.

Graveside services and burial will be held Tuesday (May 25, 2021) at 10 a.m. at the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Lore City, with Father Paul Hrezo officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
