M. Faye (Stoneburner) Roe

January 21, 1927 — November 20, 2014

M. Faye (Stoneburner) Roe, 87 of Salesville, died Thursday (November 20, 2014) at Barnesville Hospital. She was born January 21, 1927 in Salesville, daughter of the late David Stoneburner and Millie (Harper) Stoneburner. Mrs. Roe was always an involved mother, homemaker, church member, and community citizen. On July 28, 1945 she married Ralph Roe - he passed away on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1995. Mrs. Roe was a 1945 graduate of Old Washington High School. She enjoyed going to both the Old Washington and Quaker City Alumnae Banquets. She also enjoyed visiting with her classmate and special friend, Jeanette Hall at Hall's Garage. Mrs. Roe was an active member of the Salesville Church of Faith, where she taught Sunday School and helped with Bible School for many years. She even helped to publish the church's newsletter. She was also an active member of the Esther Circle, Gibson Homemakers, and the Leatherwood Senior Citizens. On the personal side, she enjoyed sending cards, writing & typing letters, baking cookies, and making baby quilts. She liked attending musical events with her son, Bill, and working at the Country Store during the Ohio Hills Folk Festival in Quaker City. She took great pride in always being a stay-at-home mom. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Zilpha Stephens, Thelma Paden, and Eva Mae Warne; and a brother, Clarence Stoneburner. She is survived by five sons, Bill (Renee) Roe of Salesville, Glenn (Lavada) Roe of Salesville, Carl (Debi) Roe of Salesville, Earl (Ellen) Roe of Zanesville, and Brian (Jean) Roe of Quaker City; four daughters, Martha Ann (Rolland) Thompson of Lore City, Nancy (Ben) Hendershot of Salesville, Debby (Bob) Dilallo of Granville, and Susan Morrow of Blacklick; twenty-five grandchildren, Carol (Randy) Fabian, Sherry (Kevin) Watson, Aaron (Lisa) Roe, Karen (Willie) Walker, Ric (Michelle) Roe, Daniel (Sheila) Roe, John (Pam) Roe, Jason (Shaney Dingus) Roe, Karla (Dave Fragale) Hook, David (Amber) Roe, Kevin (Angie) Watson, Loretta Roe, Natasha (Andrea Collins) Roe, Andrea Roe, Kari (Dustin) Elkins, Laura (Noah Tindall) Frakes, Dusty (Devani) Roe, Brandon (Virginia) Hendershot, Lucas (Courteney) Roe, Alissa (Josh) Wilson, Stacey (Dustin) Hauenstein, Emily (Steve Butler) Roe, Jeffery (Haley Goodson) Booth, Katie (Justin) Addington, and Kameron Roe; forty-nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister, Hazel Cellar of Centerburg; her in-laws, Betty Stoneburner of Cambridge, Elaine Roe of Salesville, Kathryn Roe of Salesville, and Junior & Shirley Roe of Lore City; and many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salesville Church of Faith. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (November 25, 2014) at 2 p.m. at the Salesville Church of Faith with Pastors Perry Baranich and Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Salesville Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either the Salesville Church of Faith or the Esther Circle, both c/o 119 Locust Street, Salesville OH 43778.
