Mabel Jane Marlatt, 94, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Embassy of Cambridge, formerly Cambridge Health and Rehab.
Mabel was born on February 10, 1931, in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Ross Cole and Lyda Prudence (Gregg) Kirkman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lyda & Ross Kirkman, her husband, Loren Marlatt, her son, Ross Marlatt, grandson, Charles Marlatt, granddaughter, Sarah Cain Bozarth, brother, Bernard (Roma) Kirkman, her twin sister, June Kranz, who passed away on June 11, 2024, and her brothers-in-law, Don Kranz and Daniel Oldham.
Mabel is survived by her sisters Wilma Kirkman of Byesville and Linda Oldham of Jamestown, her loving son, Charles and Sandra Marlatt of Old Washington, and Rick and Lynn Marlatt of Byesville, several grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great grandkids, and several nieces and nephews.
Mabel was a 1949 graduate of Cambridge High School and later attended Guernsey-Muskingum Vocational School where she received her LPN in Psychology and Pharmacology. Mabel worked as a Hospital Aide Supervisor for thirty years at the Cambridge State Hospital where she retired in 1990. She also worked at Bell Nursing Home. She played keyboard and sang for the Buckeye Music Makers and the Get Along Gang. Mabel played organ at the Church of Christ in Byesville. Mabel loved to spend time with her grandchildren and being outside with her dog's watching birds, especially cardinals. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 11AM-12PM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with a burial to follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown with Rev. Clayton Coffey officiating.
