She was born October 9, 1932 in Richwood WV, daughter of the late Haymond Sparks and Dessie (McElwain) Sparks.
Miss Sparks had worked at Bair Furniture and later retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where she had worked in the business office for many years.
She was a graduate of Richwood High School.
She was a loving aunt, who was almost like a second mother to those in her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and crocheting.
Miss Sparks was a volunteer at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Arthela Sparks; a brother, Lloyd Sparks; and a stepbrother, Raymond Hamrick.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Evancho of Cambridge; her very close nieces and nephews, Tim (& Doree) Evancho of Cambridge, Paul (& Julie) Evancho of Boardman, Anita (& Steve) Colby of Newark, John (& Dolly) Hamrick of Seneca SC, and Peggy McCarthy of Seneca SC; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday (October 6, 2017) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Guernsey Health Foundation, c/o SEORMC, 1341 Clark Street, Cambridge OH 43725.
