Marian "Mame" Harmon Rome, 74, passed away peacefully and comfortably in her home surrounded by her loving family. Marian was born in Canton, Ohio in a small farmhouse to the late John and Helen Harmon.
Marian was a 1964 graduate of Canton Central Catholic High School and then received her teaching degree from Ohio University. She was a dedicated supporter of her family and students with a teaching career that spanned 53 years. She taught at St. Joan of Arc in Canton, Holy Trinity in Byesville, and Buckeye Trail Schools. She taught her students so much about "life, hard work, and discipline" in the most caring way possible.
Marian enjoyed going to her kids and grandkids sporting events, activities, and recitals, lunches with her teacher friends, trips to Canton, QVC and Game Show Network, her relaxing Wheeling Downs slot trips, and most importantly her Sunday family meals and holiday traditions. She truly loved a loud and crazy house.
Marian is survived by son Frank Steven (Joyce) Rome, son John (Christy) Rome, and daughter Annemarie (Greg) Stamm. Grandchildren: Carson, Julio, Cale, Franko, Josey, Ben, Mya, Joey, Emmy, and RJ; and great-grandchild Amaun. Partner in parenting Frank Rome Sr. Siblings John Harmon and Eileen (John) Myers; as well as many nieces and nephews. Marian is preceded in death by parents John and Helen Harmon; Frank and Marie Rome; siblings Helen Marie Harmon, Fran DiCola, and Joe Harmon; her dear friend and cousin Joyce Rome; niece Susan Rome; and her sweet granddaughter Annastyn Marie Stamm.
Marian was part of "Warrior nation" as a teacher, as well as a warrior in the way she endured many of life's hardships. She had a kind and gentle soul that was always present. She will always impact and live on in our hearts as a mother, a teacher, a friend, and finally our "Baba".
