Marie Eileen (Shugert) Hartman

Marie Eileen (Shugert) Hartman, 86, of Columbus, died Tuesday (July 21, 2009) at The Forum at Knightsbridge in Columbus. She was born October 19, 1922 in Freeport, daughter of the late Roy A. Shugert and Veda (Longsworth) Shugert. Mrs. Hartman was employed by the State of Ohio for nearly forty years having worked as the Director of State Workers Compensations Self-Employee Division. She retired in 1982. She was a member of the Old Washington United Methodist Church. She was 1940 graduate of Old Washington High School and she enjoyed attending the alumni banquet. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and traveled extensively throughout the United States. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean Shugart and Frances Shugert; and her step-mother, Wilda Robinson Shugert. She is survived by her husband, Robert Hartman of the home, whom she married on March 16, 1946; a brother, Kenneth (& Sandra) Shugert of Old Washington; two sisters, Elsie (& David) McVicker of Mansfield and Martha (& Dean) Shriver of Pleasant City; a sister-in-law, Norma Shugart of Newcomerstown; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call on Saturday (July 25, 2009) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with Evang. Flavil Miller officiating. Burial will be at Old Washington Cemetery.
