Martha E. Johnson

Martha E. Johnson, 85, of Cambridge, died Saturday (January 18, 2020) at Cardinal Place.

She was born October 30, 1934 in Cambridge, daughter of the late William Goodright and Mary (Addy) Goodright.

Mrs. Johnson retired from Champion Spark Plug. She was a volunteer at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center and with the Red Cross Blood Mobile. While her husband, Tom Johnson, was Guernsey County Commissioner, she was a volunteer at the Guernsey County Home. She was a lifelong Democrat.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cambridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Johnson, who died October 20, 2002; two brothers, Bill Goodright and Dick Goodright; and a sister, Nadine Black.

She is survived by four daughters, Wanda (Jim) Hockenberry of Cambridge, Jodi Murrey (Jay Archer) of Cambridge, Benita (Gary) Brokaw of Cambridge, and Mari Lee (Pasquale) DeMartino of Virginia; a son, Jim (Diane) Johnson of Cambridge; two brothers, Gene Goodright of Byesville and David (Bev) Young of Canton; her grandchildren, Ben (Adriana) Hockenberry of Michigan, Nicole Hockenberry of North Carolina, Ryan (Angela) Murrey of Washington, Corey (Shannon) Murrey of New Jersey, Jared (Lori) Murrey of Washington, Daryl DeMartino and Devon DeMartino of Virginia, Tom (Jess) Johnson of Dublin, and Matt Johnson of Columbus; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday (January 25, 2020) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.

Private graveside services for the family will be held at Zion Cemetery, Westland Township, on Monday (January 27, 2020).
