Martha J. Mount

Martha J. Mount, 96, of Canton and formerly of Cambridge, died Tuesday (December 23, 2014) at Aultman Hospital, Canton. She was born September 25, 1918 in Washington Township/Guernsey County, daughter of the late Frank Ray George and Alice R. (Umstott) George. Mrs. Mount had worked as a cook at Montgomery Ward of Canton for many years in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Center United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mount was a member of the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center and the Golden 60s. She loved crafting, cooking, needlepoint work, and gardening activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Mount Sr., who died June 2, 1993; two brothers, Ernest George and Ralph George; a half-brother, Frank George; a daughter-in-law, Linda Mount; two sons-in-law, Allen Gould and Ernest Wilson; a great-grandson, Jason McDonald; and a great-granddaughter, Megan Welker. She is survived by two sons, Dallas Mount Jr. (& Sharon Blatz) of Dayton and Frank Ray Mount of Canton; three daughters, Constance Gould of Tucson AZ, Carol Rodgers of Canton, and Martha Wilson of New Concord; a half-sister, Norma Shugart of Newcomerstown; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Funeral services will be held Monday (December 29, 2014) at 11 a.m. at the Center United Methodist Church with Pastor David Mansperger officiating. Burial will be at Peoli Cemetery.
