Martin Joseph Grimm, 76, of Cambridge, died Monday (May 9, 2011) at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center after a five-year battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was born August 4, 1934 in Louisville KY, son of the late Martin Joseph Grimm Sr. and Agnes (Belshoff) Grimm. Mr. Grimm was a chemical engineer for thirty-nine years at Colgate Palmolive in both Cambridge and Jeffersonville IN. He was a member of the Christ Our Light Parish. Mr. Grimm was a 1952 graduate of St. Xavier High School and a 1957 graduate of University of Louisville Speed Scientific School, having earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of the Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus member. He was a volunteer at SORMC for many years. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and gardening. He loved traveling with his wife, Jane. Mr. Grimm was a US Air Force veteran, having served for two years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Longenbohn. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Finney) Grimm, whom he married January 4, 1958; seven sons, Donald (& Susan) Grimm of Houston TX, David (& Teresa) Grimm of Augusta GA, Terrence (& Ruth) Grimm of Lexington KY, Thomas (& Lisa) Grimm of Mobile AL, Steven (& Tracy) Grimm of Louisville KY, Kevin (& Jackie) Grimm of Houston TX, and Daniel (& Kristine) Grimm of Louisville KY; three daughters, Karen (& Patrick) Goggin of Cambridge, Julie Grimm of Houston TX, and Jennifer (& Andrew) Tuschong of Union KY; thirty grandchildren, Blakely, Eric, Mary Katherine, Ashlyn, Michael, Anna, Emily, Jacqueline, Meredith, Samuel, Abigail, Matthew, Benjamin, Meagan, Kaitlin, Jacob, Elena, Evan, Andrew, Colin, Aaron, Caleb, Joseph, Jack, Kelly, James, Katherine, Grace, Caroline, and Luke. Family and friends may call on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday (May 14, 2011) at 10 a.m. at Christ Our Light Parish, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville KY.
