Martin B. Lehotay

July 12, 1945 — May 8, 2021

Martin B. Lehotay, 75, of Cambridge, died Saturday (May 8, 2021) at Beckett House at New Concord.

He was born July 12, 1945 in Cambridge, son of the late Edward Lehotay and Agnes (Love) Lehotay.

Mr. Lehotay was a self-employed brick mason.  He was also the owner and operator of Gas Tech Compressors

He was a member of Christ Our Light Parish.

Mr. Lehotay was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, where he became 100% disabled.  He was awarded two Purple Hearts for his service.

He enjoyed his daily rides on the farm to feed his fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca K. (Abrams) Lehotay, who died May 1, 2020.  They were married November 2, 1974.  Also deceased is a granddaughter, Precious Mary Redd.

He is survived by four sons, Matthew Lehotay (Kimberly Collart) of Cambridge, Douglas (Jill) Lehotay of Cambridge, Martin Lehotay II of Columbus, and Marcus (Brandy) Lehotay of Jamestown; two daughters, Marci (Nathan) Redd of Lore City and Hayley Abbe of Montville; a brother, Tom Lehotay of Cambridge; two sisters, Mary (Jim) Brothers of Cambridge and Marie (Bill) Delik of Cambridge; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday (May 13, 2021) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Father Paul Hrezo officiating. Family and friends are all welcome, but due to COVID-19, FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED.  Please take all precautions to ensure your own safety and everyone else's should you decide to attend.

Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
