Mary D. Grindstaff, 86, of Cambridge, died Friday (September 27, 2013) at the Beckett House at New Concord. She was born December 21, 1926 in Cambridge, daughter of the late William R. Burkey and Velma (Stage) Burkey. Mrs. Grindstaff was a retired assembler, having worked at Randall-Textron and later at RCA for twelve years. She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary 386 and a fifty-year member of the Women of the Moose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Grindstaff, who died in 1993; a son, William Grindstaff; a grandson, Terry Plain, and an infant grandson; two sisters, Bonnie Waltz and Shirley McDonald; and a brother, Gene Stage. She is survived by a son, John E. Grindstaff Jr. of Massillon; a daughter, Nancy (& Robert) Fettes of Cambridge; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday (October 1, 2013) at 11 a.m. with Evang. Woody Biggs officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
