Mary E. Hess, 85, of Cambridge, died Friday (January 2, 2015) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born May 13, 1929 in Virginia, daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Stiltner and Molly (Wilson) Stiltner. Mrs. Hess was a member of the Cambridge Church of God of Prophecy. She loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan E. Hess, who died September 20, 2011. They were married September 26, 1948. Also deceased are three brothers, Howard, Ralph and Ernie Stiltner; and two sisters, Dorothy Wilkinson and Beverly Ann Stiltner. She is survived by a son, Edward Lee (Robin) Hess of Medina; a daughter, Wilma (David E.) Roe of Medina; a brother, G. C. Stiltner of Virginia; four sisters, Jeanette (Donald) Coleman of North Carolina, Betty (Richard) Boyd of Virginia, Shirley Blankenship of Virginia and Jearl Whited of Virginia; six grandchildren, Rena Ann Maynard, Edward Lee Hess Jr., Amanda Nicole Formosa, Adam James Hess, Lisa Marie Roe and David Jason Roe; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday (January 7, 2015) at 1 p.m. with Bishop Robert G. Garman officiating. Burial will follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens Cemetery, Cambridge.
