Mary A. Holliday

Mary A. (Zavodsky) Holliday, 98, of Cambridge, died Friday (February 10, 2012) at her home. She was born September 6, 1913 in Byesville, daughter of the late Steve Zavodsky and Anna (Wilches) Zavodsky. Mrs. Holliday retired from NCR, where she had been an assembler. She had also worked at RCA and Cambridge Glass. She was a member of Christ Our Light Parish - St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the choir. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. Holliday cherished spending time with her family and friends, and especially enjoyed caring for her dog, Benji. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Eagles. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines chorus, enjoyed attending the Golden 60's as well as socializing at the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center. She was a supporter of the Museum of Cambridge and The Salvation Army of Cambridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Holliday Jr., who died in 1953; two sisters, Ethel and Susan; and two brothers, John and Mike. She is survived by a son, Rudy David Holliday of Cambridge; a grandson, Rudy Sean (& Abby) Holliday of Worthington; three great-grandchildren, Grant, Grace, and Gwyn; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Mass of Christian burial will follow on Monday (February 13, 2012) at 12 p.m. at Christ Our Light Parish - St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Mary's name to The Salvation Army, 221 Dewey Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
