Mary Alice Russell, 102, passed away Monday (July 6, 2015) at the home of her daughter Sally in Grove City. She was born Jan. 10, 1913, in Wheeling, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Howard Thomas and Viola (Ford) Edwards. On Jan. 4, 1940, she married James B. Russell, who passed away Dec. 25, 1988. Mary was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a graduate of New Concord High School and a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church. In earlier years she liked to visit yard sales, was a great cook and an avid reader. She loved soap operas, and was especially fond of cats, of which she had several. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; and a grandchild. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Russell Auber of Grove City; a son, Thomas (Roseanne) Russell of Senecaville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild. Services were held Wednesday (July 8, 2015) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Pastor Sturman Moore officiating. Burial was in Northwood Cemetery.
