Mary Marie (Wyscarver) Stoneburner

December 19, 1916 — January 10, 2015

Mary Marie (Wyscarver) Stoneburner, born December 19, 1916 passed away peacefully on January 10, 2015 at the age of 98. She was the second daughter born to William and Myrtle (Buyas) Wyscarver of Noble County. She was married to the late Harold H. Hull of Salesville and the late Donald W. Stoneburner of Salesville for forty-eight years. A graduate of Muskingum College and The Ohio State University, she was an educator for more than thirty years. She taught for twenty-five years in Quaker City and then for five more years at Zane Trace of Old Washington before her retirement. She taught English, speech, math, and home economics. She was a member of the Salesville United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for fifty-three years. Marie loved to sew, read, work crosswords and search word puzzle books. She was an excellent cook and had a gift of setting a proper and beautiful table. She was always willing and enjoyed helping her grandchildren with their homework. Since she was such a strong advocate of education, she was extremely proud of her grandson, Steven Hull, who is working on his master's degree; of her granddaughter, Gerra Hull, who is presently attending Liberty University in Lynchburg VA for her bachelor's degree; and of her great-granddaughter, Brittany Hull, who graduated from Cincinnati University with her bachelor's degree. In addition to her parents and her late husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl House; and a brother, Bob Wyscarver. Marie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Georganna Hull of Salesville; grandson, Steven (& Joanne) Hull of Philadelphia PA; granddaughter, Gerra Hull; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Ava, Emma, and Beckhem Hull; sisters, Lucille Christman of Cambridge (to whom Marie was a second mother to), Dorothy McKinstry of California; a sister-in-law, Madeline Long; and her special neighbors and adopted grandchildren, Casey and Tawnya Stephens and their children, Cole, Madison, and Casey Jr. She will be sorely missed and will surely continue to touch people's lives in a higher calling. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, and also Friday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday (January 16, 2015) at 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Salesville Cemetery.
