Maryella Christie (Symes) Braun

June 6, 1935 — October 26, 2006

Maryella (Symes) Christie Braun, 71, of Cambridge, died Thursday (October 26, 2006) at Aultman Hospital, Canton, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born June 6, 1935 in Topeka KS, daughter of the late Addie (Nunemaker) Symes and Don Edwin Symes. Mrs. Braun was a music therapist at Hospice of Guernsey since 1991. She was a graduate of Wright State University in Dayton with a degree in music therapy. She was a member of Kiwanis Club in Cambridge, the Cambridge Singers and was a volunteer at Southeastern Med. She loved music, playing the piano, reading and her trips with "the girls". She was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church, Cambridge. Her husband, Donald D. Braun, died as the result of the same accident. They were married November 29, 1996. Also deceased is her first husband, John Bradley Christie, who died February 15, 2005. She leaves two sons, Bradley Dean (& Katy) Christie of California and Don Michael Christie of New York; a daughter Mary Jane (& George) Christie Hetzlein of New York; two grandchildren, Amanda Pearl Hetzlein and Sarah Elisabeth Hetzlein of New York. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (October 31, 2006) with Captain Robert Sears and Rev. Dr. Wallace Wilson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725. Maryella will be laid to rest beside her parents in the Harveyville Cemetery, Harveyville, Kansas, at 10 AM, Tuesday, August 21, 2007. We will come together to celebrate her life and the time God gave her to us. Please, do not wear black. The family hopes that you will join them for this celebration of Maryella's life.
