Maxine (Hatfield) Adkins, 85, of Freeport, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, at her home.
Maxine was born on February 22, 1937, in Salt Rock, WV, a daughter to the late Ode and Bertha (Ross) Hatfield.
Maxine was a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, decorating, tending to her flower gardens, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Fredlene Adkins, who she married in 1955, and passed away on June 27, 2014, three brothers, Jack Hatfield, Johnny Hatfield, and Tudge Hatfield, and her sister, Emmagene Covey.
Maxine is survived by her four sons, Ricky (Rebecca) Adkins of Freeport, Orbie (Cindy) Adkins of Medina, Quinten (Cheryl Willard) Adkins of Medina, and Mark Adkins of Freeport, her three daughters, Debbie Lawson of Salesville, Lisa (Dan) Archer of Litchfield, OH, and Melinda (Dwayne) Lashley of Lore City, her two brothers, Robert Hatfield of Salt Rock, WV, and Jimmy Hatfield of Florida. Also left to cherish her memory are her three sisters, Goldie Bentley of Huntington, WV, Midge Adkins of Huntington, WV, and Patty Lovejoy of Burbank, OH, her sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, her special friend, Kim Green, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 11AM-1PM, at with the service to immediately follow at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with Pastor Kris Bright officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset View Cemetery.
