Melvin Ball Jr., 89, of Zanesville and formerly of Pleasant City, died Friday (September 25, 2020) at his home.
He was born November 4, 1930 in Williamson WV, son of the late Melvin Ball and Zetta (Farley) Ball.
Mr. Ball retired from B.F. Goodrich of Cleveland, where he had worked as a machinist.
Mr. Ball served with the Army National Guard.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to tell a good story.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three wives; three sisters, Hazel, Hannah, and Annie Hudson; two half-sisters; and his close companion, Shelba J. Olney.
He is survived by two boys that he raised like sons, Richard (Annette) Taconet of Cleveland and Thomas D. (Jacqueline) Taconet; a brother, Lee Ball; his special caregivers, Ellen Roe and Ruby Hott of Zanesville; and all of the (Shelba) Olney-Gregg family of Pleasant City.
Visitation will be held Tuesday (September 29, 2020) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Clergyman Noah Barr officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
