Meriam has lost the final battle in a long war on July 10, 2007 at SEORMC despite a valiant effort to defeat her ailments. She was surrounded and comforted by her loving family until she ventured on to her new journey in heaven. Meriam will be reunited with her fishing companion and husband of 64 years, C. Donald. They were married November 22, 1941 and together raised four daughters: Donna Berkshire of Riverside, Ohio; Lynn of Cambridge, Ohio; Kathy Belt of Port Washington; and Lori (Doug) Grissett of Winterset, Ohio. Meriam was born on April 3, 1921 to the late Fay and Nellie Cordray Yohe in Nevada, Ohio. Her twin sister Myrle Cullison passed away hours prior to Meriam on July 9, 2007. She is survived by sister Lorraine (Bill) Miller of Alliance, Ohio. Meriam was raised in Canton, Ohio where she met and married C. Donald McWilliams. They lived in California during his tour of duty during the war. Upon returning home, they lived on a farm on what is now known as the 4th green at Salt Fork State Park Golf Course. Meriam was a member of the Winterset United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. She was employed at RCA, NCR and primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed camping, fishing, carpentry, cooking and growing flowers. Her homemade soup could cure the worst illness or brighten the gloomiest day. Meriam had a wonderful sense of humor and was a lot of fun. She enjoyed vacationing in her motor home and fishing on her pontoon. Most of all she had a tremendous zest for life. Her knowledge and spunk will leave a humongous void in all those left behind. In addition to her daughters and sister, Meriam is survived by thirteen grandchildren: Michele (John) Vesley, Wendy (Bob) Bennett, J.L. (Kelly) Ball, Roxanna (Chuck) Figgins, Jennifer (Mark) Hostutler, Christy (John) Rome, Misty Pollock, Ellie Pollock, Jessica & Amanda Grissett, Greg (Kelly) Belt, Steve (Cathy) Belt and Jeremy Belt; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Freda Warner, Beverly Erbes, June Knott and Dorothy Millar; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many great friends. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Friday (July 13, 2007) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mary Lou Warstler officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
