Mildred J. "Millie" Johnston, 78, passed away Thursday (March 10, 2016) at the Beckett House in New Concord. She was born October 31, 1937 in Glen Robbins OH, daughter of the late Joseph and Austie (Henry) Gillespie. Millie retired from NCR. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, and taking care of her family and any other person that needed help. She was a natural born giver, always thinking of others. Her faith in God, her family, and her friends are what kept her strong and helped her through her battle with Parkinson's. In addition to her parents and stepfather, Ross Fry, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Johnston, who passed away May 28, 1987. They were married August 15, 1959. Also deceased is a sister, Elsie Janice Smith and a brother, Joseph Gillespie. She is survived by four daughters, Debbie (& Brad) Bennett of Byesville, Lori Johnston of New Concord, Connie (& Gary) Graham of Cambridge, and Pam (& Juan) Molina of Claysville; a sister, Carole Crossland of Yorkville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday (March 14, 2016) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
