Mildred I. Jones

Mildred I. Jones, 87, of Cambridge, died peacefully Monday (January 17, 2011) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, surrounded by her family. The day prior to her death, she was visited by most of her family & friends, and she felt that this was the happiest day of her life. She was born December 5, 1923 in Berea WV, daughter of the late Bert Whitehair and Leona (Sutton) Whitehair. Mrs. Jones was a retired supervisor for the former Cambridge State Hospital for many years. She was Christian by faith. Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Pullman WV High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Jones Sr.; a daughter, Jane Fleming; a daughter-in-law, Nena Jones; and three brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by four sons, Homer Tim (& Jill) Jones Jr. of Cambridge, Rick Jones of Cambridge, Dale (& Cynthia) Jones of Athens, and Ted (& Tina) Jones of Kimbolton; three daughters, Ellen (& Dave) Adair of Cambridge, Patsy (& Randy) Hare of Apollo Beach FL, and Cathy Lingafelter of Cambridge; twenty-seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday (January 21, 2011) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Nate Gibbons officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
