Mona Jane (Stephen) Delong

Mona Jane Delong, 87, of Salesville passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at her home.

She was born June 5, 1936, in Calias, a daughter of the late Alex and Elma (Gallagher) Stephen.

Mona was a cook for 40 years at the State Hospital. She was also a member of the Eagles, VFW 2901, and Esther Circle. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, and reading. She loved her flowers and was known to have several nice orchids in her home. Mona loved life and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Salesville United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mona is preceded in death by her husband, Guy Delong, whom she married June 5, 1954, and who passed March 27, 2007; four sons, David, Douglas, Darren, and Dayle; three brothers, Linza, Dale, and Kenneth; and a sister Ada.

She is survived by her two sons, Darryl (& Sandra) Delong of Salesville and Dennis (& Susan) Delong of Senecaville; one sister, Verda (& Jim) Kieser of Strausburg, her grandchildren, Nicole (& Christopher) Day, Dustin (& Samantha) Delong, Dominique Delong, Denise Delong, Paige Delong, Greyson Delong, Kevin Delong, Dawn (& Tony) Wheeler, Karley Schaefer, Taylor Delong, Hunter Barrow, Rochelle Leonard, Jodee (& Justin) Demond, and Jay Kane. Her memory will also be remembered by several great-grandchildren, and her daughters-in-law, Rhonda, Debbie, Shawna, Kerry, and Nicole.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 5pm to 7pm at Thorn- Black Funeral Home in Quaker City with services on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 11 am with Pastor Devani Roe officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery.
