Monna Jean Robinson

Monna Jean Robinson, 74, of Quaker City, died Monday (August 11, 2008) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born on January 7, 1934 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Dwight Lingo and Mary Hannah Lingo. Mrs. Robinson was a traveling art teacher for the old Guernsey County school - teaching at Quaker City, Oxford, Londonderry, Madison and Old Washington. She helped her father at Lingo's Hardware from her early childhood. After her teaching career, she once again helped to operate Lingo's Hardware, this time with her husband, from 1976 to 1999. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the Quaker City United Methodist Church, where she was a former treasurer. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She was Valedictorian of Quaker City High School Class of 1951 and a graduate of Kent State, where she played in the marching band. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stillborn infant son. She leaves her husband, Harold Robinson of the home, whom she married on September 12, 1954; a son, Lee (& Julie) Robinson of Old Washington; two daughters, Resa (& Daniel) Lynn of Plain City and Julie (& Charles) Pickerington of Sunbury; and four grandchildren, Aaron Lynn, Austin Lynn, Ross Robinson and Alex Lynn. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Quaker City United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (August 14, 2008) at 11 a.m. at the Quaker City United Methodist Church. Rev. Wilbur Bragg will officiate, assisted by Rev. Carol Touvell and Rev. Wayne Hogue. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
