Myra S. Van Horn, 70, of Old Washington, died Sunday, September 2, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 10, 1948 in Millertown, daughter of the late Calvin Embrey and Patricia Sue (Kocher) Embrey.
Mrs. Van Horn retired from the Rolling Hills Local School District, where she had been a math teacher for many years. She earned her Bachelor of Education Degree from Ohio University and her Masters of Education from Muskingum College. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid reader.
Mrs Van Horn was a member of the First Church of
the Nazarene in Cambridge and a member of the Adair Bible Class.
She is survived by her husband; Arnold A. Van Horn; two daughters; Donna Louise ( Dan ) Bentley of Johnstown and Diana Lynn Dyer of Pickerington; two brothers; Melvin Glenn ( Marlene ) Embrey of Columbus and Mark Andrew Embrey of New Lexington; a sister; Melody ( David ) Lunsford of Lancaster, four grandchildren; Caleb Bentley, Joshua ( Tiffany ) Bentley, Jarrod Shepard and Jade Shepard; a great-granddaughter; Sophia Lillyn Bentley.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 6, at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, from 1 p.m. until time of service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Greg Kessler officiating. Burial and graveside services will be Friday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at Dew Cemetery, Perry County (near Glouster).
