Nancy Ann Caples

Nancy Ann Caples, 71, of Old Washington, lost her four-year battle with cancer and died at home Saturday (July 3, 2010). She was born April 15, 1939, daughter of the late Robert R. Sherrard Jr. and Ann Louise Evans Sherrard. Mrs. Caples was a former deacon and elder at Old Washington Presbyterian Church, a former 4-H advisor and accomplished vocalist. She loved gardening, birdwatching and her two dogs, Noel and Katie. She leaves her husband, Robert Caples of Old Washington; a son, R. Christopher Caples of Cambridge; a daughter, Cathy (Doyce) Holt of Old Washington; three grandchildren, Carrie (Jesse) Nabholz of Conway, Ark., Garrett Holt of Old Washington and Perry Buco of Cambridge; a great-grandson, August Nabholz; a foster grandson, Perry Buco of Old Washington; Uncle and Aunt Carl and JoAnn Smith of Barnesville, Aunt Dorothy MacNealy of Baton Rouge, La.; several cousins and a group of good friends. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (July 6, 2010) at Old Washington Cemetery with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
