Natalie Jean Simpson

September 4, 1933 — March 10, 2017

Natalie Jean Simpson, 83, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (March 10, 2017) at her home. She was born September 4, 1933 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Frank Ford and Ellen (Finney) Ford. Natalie retired from Champion Spark Plug, where she gave many dedicated years.  She had a passion for traveling - visiting many countries by plane and by ship with family & friends. She enjoyed spending numerous hours sitting on her porch with her granddaughter, Tavionna; shopping with her sister, Jody, and nieces, Trina and Tamika; and talking on the phone with her nieces, April and Tammy.  Natalie had a love for the lottery, putting together puzzles, and reading.  Known to many as "Aunt Nat", she loved her family and friends and was always the first to offer her help or assistance to everyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Philip Ford and Charles (PeeWee) Ford; a sister, Delores (Beetles) Ford; nephews, Stanley Ford II and Thomas Payton II; and a grandson, Christopher Hollins. She is survived by a son, Philip (Christine) Simpson; three brothers, Richard (Dump) Ford, Stephen (Pet) Ford, and Stanley Ford; a sister, Jody Payton; four grandchildren, Cheresa (CC), Shanda, Diedra (Tay) Simpson, and Brandy (Ben); three stepgrandchildren, Troy Travis, Trent, and T'Ria Brownfield; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her nephews, Stephen, Ritchie, and Jarod Ford, Charles Bell, Charles, Mike, and Darren Ford, Jason and Shawn Payton, and Brandon Todd; her nieces, Tammy Todd, April Badnell, Trina Payton, Stephanie Ford, and Dawn Ellen Ford; many great-nieces, great-nephews, family, friends, and co-workers.  Special family friends include, Herbie Earley, Jannette Fannin, Ruth Earley, and the ladies from the Senior Center. Visitation will be held Thursday (March 16, 2017) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randolph White and Pastor Bob Hollins officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the family's discretion.
