Norma M. Lucas

Norma M. Lucas, 83, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday (March 7, 2015) at the Red Carpet Nursing Facility. She was born May 13, 1931 in Noble County, daughter of the late Orisson Champlin and Florence (Heddleson) Champlin. Norma graduated from Belle Valley High School in 1950 and then moved to Cambridge. She was employed at the former Gallagher Candy Shop and Restaurant at the corner of Steubenville and North 4th Street. She later worked at the Kingston-Conley Company/March Electric, where she met her husband of sixty-four years, Wayne Lucas. After leaving the factory, she attended the Cambridge Beauty College, where she earned her operator's and manager's licenses. She operated the House of Charm Beauty Salon for several years. Norma was a long-time member of the local YMCA, where she was an avid swimmer and was also involved in the exercise programs. She enjoyed bowling and bicycling. Most of all, she enjoyed being with her family, especially during the holiday seasons when everyone was together. She will be sadly missed and although we know her spirit will be with us, these gatherings will never be the same without our very important missing link. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers, and an infant daughter. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Lucas of the home; two daughters, Vicki (& Rick) Foraker of Cambridge and Brenda Gibson of Cambridge; a son, Darren (& Lynda) Lucas of Gahanna; two grandsons, Travis Foraker and Fritz Foraker; five granddaughters, Abbey Lucas, Kelsey Lucas, Briana (& Paul) Vineyard, Sarah Gibson, and Katie Gibson; and three great-grandchildren, Lilly Mae Vineyard, Isaac Lucas Vineyard, and Maia Madora Vineyard. Private services were held for the family. Burial followed at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
